You might ask do I need to see a Chiropractor?
The answer is simple:
Yes, everyone should see a chiropractor! By analyzing the movement patterns of the body (especially the spine) dysfunction can be detected and corrected long before it becomes symptomatic or degenerative. Prevention is better than cure!
What do Chiropractors do?
Chiropractic has been practiced around the world for well over a hundred years and literally means ‘done by hand.’ Chiropractors are concerned with correcting neuro-musculo-skeletal imbalances and joint dysfunction in the body. These are the major causes of bodily pain and joint degeneration. This is achieved through careful analysis of the body’s biomechanics or movement patterns (especially the spine) recognizing any dysfunction thereof and restoring incorrect patterns back to normal.
Chiropractic thus addresses and corrects the ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM.
How does Chiropractic work?
The body is subjected to a barrage of internal and external stresses on a daily basis such as trauma, postural, ergonomic and psychological stresses. Joints in the stressed areas of the body tend to become blocked and restricted in their movement – a term called fixated or subluxated. A joint’s function is to move and if it cannot move it cannot function. The effects that follow this are the same for all joints in the body and are collectively known as the effects of immobilization. These effects include muscle wasting , nerve root atrophy, venous, arterial and lymphatic stasis. These effects are the first phase of joint degeneration.
Quite simply the body works on the principle of USE IT OR LOSE IT.
This degeneration can thus be avoided with Chiropractic therapy by simply restoring normal movement patterns and function. This is achieved by specific and accurate joint manipulation/mobilization, muscle release techniques, corrective exercises and patient education regarding posture, ergonomics etc.

Which conditions do Chiropractors treat?
It is a common misperception that Chiropractors treat only the spine. Chiropractors specialize in the treatment of all bodily joints and related pain syndromes, as all joints react and degenerate similarly when dysfunctional. The most commonly treated problems at our clinic include:
- Mechanical back and neck pain
- Nerve impingements in the neck or back radiating pain/pins and needles/numbness into the arms and legs
- Spinal disc prolapses (slipped discs)
- Headaches, tension headaches and migraine
- Temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ) of the jaw
- Myofascial pain and dysfunction syndromes of all muscles
- Sport related or overuse injuries such as impingement syndrome of the shoulder, tennis/golfers elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, ilio-tibial band friction syndrome of the knee, achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis etc.
- Symptomatic relief in most arthritic and degenerative joint conditions
- Infantile reflux, colic, constipation etc.
